The westbound I-40 Louisana off-ramp is being ripped up.
Department of Transportation says it’s doing some stabilization work, grout injections to reinforce the bridge, curb and gutters, ADA improvements and signage upgrades.
The bridge was completely reconstructed just 14 years ago, but there have been ongoing problems.
Last year, the eastbound ramp was reconstructed.
The company that performed the original work A.S. Horner is no longer in business, so the state is having to absorb the cost which is about $4.5 million.
The project should be complete in August, but the ramp should be back open in June.
