Construction of a new national security facility in Albuquerque is underway.
The National Nuclear Security Administration facility is at Kirtland Air Force Base.
It will house engineers and designers who will work on the nation’s nuclear deterrent program.
Officials say projects like this are instrumental in attracting talented professionals to New Mexico.
“When you provide state-of-the-art facilities, you can expect a state-of-the-art and world-class workforce,” said Lisa Gordon-Hagerty, Department of Energy Undersecretary for Nuclear Security.
The $174 million facility is expected to house around 1,200 people.
