Restaurants from around the state went head to head in a competition to make the best salsa.
The Department of Agriculture hosted the Battle of the Salsas at the New Mexico State Fair Saturday.
Visitors were given a bag of tortilla chips and a ballot so they could sample 30 of the state’s best salsas.
The top three would be selected as the “crowd favorites.”
“Some people like the traditional salsas. Others like new salsas, they’re looking for new flavors, fruity flavors, or new types of chiles,” explained David Lucero of the NM Department of Agriculture.
The winner was The Bossy Gourmet Green Chile Salsa.
