Commissioners asking for minimum water level at Elephant Butte

ELEPHANT BUTTE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Sierra County Commission wants to make sure there is always water in Elephant Butte Lake.

Commissioners passed a resolution asking the Bureau of Reclamation to establish a minimum water level at the lake.

Commissioners say a minimum pool is crucial to the diverse wildlife, the public’s enjoyment, and the financial success of the marinas and the local economy.
