The Central New Mexico Community College is being recognized for becoming the first community college to issue digital diplomas.
CNM was called ‘Innovator of the Year’ from the Higher Education Dive Awards.
Using block-chain technology, CNM is making digital diplomas accessible to all graduates.
It allows graduates to look at their diploma through a smartphone app and even share it with employers on social media.
CNM says this is much more efficient than the traditional method of ordering your transcript.
“That can take days, if not weeks, now. If I can give you a quick demonstration, it literally drops that time down to seconds,” said Feng Hou of CNM.
From now on, CNM students will be given free digital diplomas during graduation.
