City to begin $15,000 soccer study to decide fate of stadium

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The city will soon begin a $15,000 study over whether Albuquerque should build a soccer stadium. The semi-pro team, the Albuquerque Sol, has dreams of moving on up to the United Soccer League – the minor leagues. The team believes Albuquerque is big enough and soccer-crazy enough to support a USL team. They even released a rendering of a new stadium earlier this year. The ideas floating around are for a $10 to $20 million stadium in the downtown area possibly near 12th and I-40.
