City reminds Albuquerque residents to clean up their weeds

News

Spring is right around the corner and that, of course, means weeds. The city says you need to maintain them.

The city’s Weed, Litter, and Snow Ordinance outlines just how much vegetation is allowed on someone’s property. Weeds more than four inches tall and wide must be cleaned out of all yards and up to the curb.

The city says residents can call 311 to lodge a complaint.

“If you get a call, if you get a complaint against you, then one of our code enforcement specialists will go out and investigate. If they find that you do have an overgrowth of weeds, then we will issue a notice of violation,” Carmelina Hart with the CABQ Planning Department said.

The city says it has the ordinance and a weed identification handbook on its website.
