A transportation hub is now open on Albuquerque’s westside.
City leaders cut the ribbon Tuesday for the refurbished transit center at Central and Unser. It will be the final destination for four ABQ Ride and one Rio Metro route.
Officials expect the transit center to double public transportation service on the westside.
“The ridership is down now, but as fuel prices begin to increase again, then people are looking for alternative methods of transportation, and public transportation is always affordable,” City Councilor Ken Sanchez said.
The transit center is just up the road from the housing and entertainment hub called “Nuevo Atrisco,” which is currently under construction.
