Chris’ Thursday Afternoon Forecast

Wind and high fire danger will plague parts of New Mexico this afternoon.   The strongest winds will be felt along the Central Mountain Chain and into the Eastern Plains that is where the wind will be gusting up to 35 mph or more.   So with the strong winds today and dry conditions, Red Flag Warnings have been posted for much of eastern New Mexico, which of course means no burning.   But, rain relief is ahead for New Mexico as we head into the weekend.   Our first little storm system will move in late tonight into Friday and this will bring the chance for spot rain showers for northern and western New Mexico for Friday afternoon along with cooler temperatures.   The wind will remain strong for some as the storm rolls over the region.   Then a larger storm system will start to impact the state on Saturday.   This will bring rain chances first to northern and western New Mexico on Saturday afternoon with more widespread rain chances and cooler temperatures for the entire state on Sunday.   So stay tuned!
