LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – Charges against the Las Vegas couple accused of badly abusing the dog known as “Hubble” have been dismissed.
The case gained the worldwide attention. Hubble and four other dogs were rescued form the home of Alex Alirez and his wife Panchita Maes Alirez in 2015.
Hubble was the worst off. He was severely emaciated, he had open wounds and maggots covering his body. Despite a major effort to save him, Hubble died.
The first trial for the Alirez’s ended in a mistrial because of problems with evidence.
On Monday, a judge ordered charges to be dismissed after both attorneys said they weren’t ready to proceed. Charges can be refiled at a later time.
