Celtic athletes will take center stage at the 30th Annual Rio Grande Celtic Festival

Highland Games heavy lifting athletes are expected to draw a crowd at this weekend’s Celtic Festival.

The 30th Annual Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival is expected to draw more than 6500 people this weekend.  The two-day event features live music, food, a dog costume parade, Scottish kilts, and much more. 

The “biggest” draw of the weekend is in the Scottish Highland Games, which are hosted by the local NM Celtic Athletics organization.  Among the nine events:  the Braemar Stones, Heavy Hammer, Weight for Distance, Sheaf Toss, and the ever-popular Caber Toss.

The RGVCF will take place on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20.

NM Celtic Athletics invite athletes of all skills and age groups to participate in their group and host weekly practice in Bernalillo on Sundays.
