Catwalk Recreation Area in the Gila set to reopen

News

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – The Catwalk National Recreation Area in the Gila Wilderness is ready to open again.

The popular area was closed in 2016 after it was damaged by flooding. Federal funding helped get the area up and running again. Gila National Forest officials say the storms were not severe enough to damage the catwalk itself.

The area will reopen Friday, Jan 5.
