News

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – An alternative plan is underway to prevent a giant brine well from collapsing in Carlsbad.

It’s the size of two football fields and when it collapses it will take roads, a school, and homes with it.

After several bills to support remediation efforts were tabled, the city of Carlsbad and Eddy County have approved $4 million for the project.

Several other bills to fund remediation are still waiting to be heard.
