Cancer charities accused of fraud

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – There has been disturbing allegations against cancer related charities and there are victims in all 50 states.

The Federal Trade Commission says from 2008 to 2012 the Cancer Fund of America, Cancer Support Services, Children’s Cancer Fund of America and The Breast Cancer Society collected $187 million, but less than 3 percent went to patients. The FTC says the rest was spent on cars, cruises and vacations.

The government is shutting down two of the charities.
