News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – University of New Mexico police are investigating an assault on a female student while she was walking on campus.

According to an advisory sent out to students early Thursday morning, a young woman was walking in the area near the Newman Center on Las Lomas around 9 p.m. Wednesday when she says a driver in a dark colored truck pulled up beside her.

The advisory describes the man as a young white man in his early 20s between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, wearing a black baseball hat, light colored short-sleeve shirt and tan shorts. When he approached her, she says he grabbed her by the arm and when she tried to run off he punched her in the face.

Campus police are now asking students to be aware of their surroundings and to call police if you see any suspicious activity.
