Cameras capture terrifying crash near a busy Albuquerque intersection

New video shows the startling moments of a terrifying crash at a busy Albuquerque intersection.

KRQE News 13’s cameras just happened to be rolling the moment of the impact. A News 13 crew was interviewing an Albuquerque Police Department’s spokesperson in regards to a car hitting a bicyclist Monday afternoon, when another crash occurred nearby.

In the video, you can see people nearby rushing to the truck to pull the men out.

Meanwhile, the driver of the station wagon was able to get of his car, appearing to be completely unscathed.

Moments later, Officer Simon Drobik is seen running to the truck as the two men appear to crawl out of one of the windows.

APD also released surveillance video of the crash.

In it, you can see the station wagon attempting to make a left turn, but the driver takes the turn too soon, hitting the box truck right as it passes through the intersection, causing it to roll over.

This happened near Juan Tabo and Central.

It was a shocking scene for everybody nearby.

“I turn around. I see the truck. I saw the van when it rolled over. After the crash there was a big boom,” said a witness.

Surprisingly everybody was able to walk away from this crash without any injuries.

KRQE News 13 reached out to APD to see if anyone will be charged for this incident, but we have not heard back.
