Burning of Chaparral piles to begin

News

Thursday, crews will begin ignitions of piles along Forest Service Road 539 in the Cuba Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest.

Fifty-nine acres of Chaparral piles will be treated through the spring and its possible smoke may be seen from Cuba, San Ysidro, Jemez Springs and Highway 550.

These prescribed burns will help to remove dead forest fuels. Firefighters will help manage the burns.
