Some New Mexico college students are in limbo after their college abruptly closed.
Brightwood College has one location in Albuquerque.
It’s a career-focused college and is one of 75 schools owned by Education Corporation of America, or ECA.
The company’s accreditation was suspended Tuesday after unsettled debt surfaced.
It serves at least 20,000 students, many of whom say they aren’t sure what to do next.
One student KRQE spoke to says thankfully he’s just one exam away from getting his degree. However, he feels bad for students in the middle of their studies.
A letter from ECA’s CEO is encouraging students to pursue their training with other schools that offer similar programs and offering to help get their credits transferred.
