Bobcat caused power outage in northern NM

An electric company says a bobcat is to blame for a recent power outage in northern New Mexico.

The bobcat seen on a Kit Carson Electric Cooperative power pole in El Rito last week.

It appears the bobcat had caught a rabbit and climbed the pole after being spooked by a dog.

Game and Fish was called in to assist, but unfortunately the cat was electrocuted.

Power was restored about an hour later.
