Bill to protect rights of pregnant workers heads to Senate

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A bill to protect the rights of pregnant workers is headed to the Senate. House Bill 179 would make it illegal to discriminate against women who are expecting. It also says employers must accommodate a pregnant woman’s needs, with more breaks or less physical activity. The bill passed the House 51 to 14, even picking up some bipartisan support. It goes to the Senate with four days left in the session.
