Bill defines right to work ordinances

A bill clearing its first committee would stop New Mexico cities from putting in place right to work ordinances.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled government workers can’t be forced to contribute to labor unions that represent them.

In New Mexico, several counties have approved ordinances preventing employees from being required to join a union.

The bill says only the state can do this.
