Bill aims to protect New Mexico children from sexual predators

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – One state lawmaker thinks New Mexico needs to get tougher on sexual predators.

Rep. Kelly Fajardo has filed a bill that would strengthen the law that deals with people who send pornographic images to children. Right now, individuals can only be charged with a crime if they send pictures of their own bodies.

Rep. Fajardo is proposing an expansion of that to all obscene images.

This will be Fajardo’s fourth attempt to pass this bill.
