Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is offering a break for people with outstanding bench warrants.

The court hosted a “Safe Surrender” event at its 5th and Lomas location Saturday.

Those with bench warrants could surrender and in turn, receive favorable consideration in the case, including walking out with their cases resolved or setting up a future court appearance.

Metro Court Judge Edward Benavidez says it helps people with warrants, law enforcement and the court itself.

“You get that bench warrant taken care of so you don’t have to worry about law enforcement potentially arresting you and then we’re here dealing with the bench warrant fees,” says Judge Edward Benavidez.

You can also surrender Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
