Anyone who is familiar with the climate in New Mexico knows the windiest time of the year is during the spring months. Due to strong spring winds, the Bernalillo County Fire Department is reminding people to anchor down outside structures like carports and trampolines.

Last Friday, Albuquerque had it’s first strong winds of the season. The Bernalillo County Fire Department’s Station 34 responded to a report of an electrical hazard. Due to the high winds, a carport was picked up and thrown near power lines and onto a gazebo.

According to BCFD’s Facebook post, when crews arrived the carport was rocking back and forth with each gust of wind. Crews were able to mitigate the hazard without any further damage.
