Bernalillo County Commissioners have given their stamp of approval for next year’s budget.

The $313 million is a 7 percent increase from this year and includes a 3 percent pay bump for county employees.

It will also cover the $2.5 million to demolish the old correctional center near Fifth Street and Roma Avenue. The county stopped using the building after MDC was built in 2001.

In addition, $500,000 has also been set aside for BCSO dash cameras. However, Sheriff Manny Gonzales would still need to accept the idea.

So far, he’s refused the cameras and has questioned whether they’re effective.
