New technology is making it easier for property owners in Bernalillo County to ask important questions about their home, around the clock.
The Bernalillo County Assessor’s website received an upgrade thanks to a local tech startup, and has created a way to have a personalized conversation with property owners.
Smartloop is the tech startup in Albuquerque.
They created a program called “Chatbot” which you can find on the bottom right-hand corner of the Assessor’s website.
Assessor Tanya Giddings says this will answer questions much quicker than through phone or email.
Giddings says it will be able to answer these questions because of months of analyzing some of the most frequently asked questions, including changes in address and questions about savings programs.
“Chatbot is basically prepared to respond to those questions. It’s just trying to find the most user-friendly avenue for property owners who want a response right away,” said Giddings.
The Assessor’s office has also created a page on its website for new homeowners.
The new page guides homeowners through the process of property searches, important dates, what is a notice of value, property tax savings programs and more.
Giddings says having this new technology will be helpful when notice of values are mailed in April.
