DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – A mama bear and her two yearlings were shot and killed in Durango this weekend after they caused extensive damage to homes and cars.
Colorado wildlife officials tell the Durango Herald they broke windows on homes, tore off doors, and broke into cars. The bears completely destroyed one car. One wildlife official called it the worse destruction by bears he’s ever seen.
Officers say they couldn’t relocate the bears because they were acclimated to humans and human food. They say bird feeders, and garbage left out contributed to the problem.
