A Bernalillo County sergeant accused of excessive force made his first appearance in court Monday.
David Priemazon is charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily injury.
He’s accused of getting physical with Christopher Lucero after a chase.
A deputy reported Priemazon after the incident, saying he saw him kick Lucero in the face.
Priemazon is on administrative leave.
Aside from the criminal case, an internal investigation is being conducted.
Monday, a judge allowed Priemazon to remain out on bond and to continue to carry a gun for his side job as a security officer.
