The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department received the results of an independent review of its use-of-force policies.
In total, 22 recommendations were made in the report. None had to do with body cameras, but say that the department’s policies could be more clear.
The Daigle Law Group, which conducted the review, says it could see how deputies could get confused.
“We will review those recommendations and take them seriously. We will also have a legal process and have our command staff and have our SOP committee looking at those,” Sheriff Manny Gonzales said.
Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins recommended taking a look at BCSO’s policies after a recent spike in deputy-involved shootings, chases and expensive lawsuit settlements.
