The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the woman involved in a SWAT standoff in Cedar Crest that ended in a deputy-involved shooting Wednesday.
Deputies say it started when they tried to serve an eviction notice to Yvette Curry at her home, however, she would only talk with deputies through a window.
They say she refused to come out and immediately started shooting at deputies.
SWAT was called in, but deputies say she proceeded to shoot, at one point shooting at their helicopter.
They say when she fired a shot at a deputy, at least one deputy shot back.
“Eventually she was able to get a phone into her and she did, in fact, call 911 and advise that she had been hit,” Bernalillo County Undersheriff Rudy Mora said.
Curry was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
No authorities were injured during the incident.
Law Enforcement Activity is due to an armed barricaded subject. We ask all residents in the area to shelter in place and all media outlets to remain at staging area. https://t.co/c3upB85fYm— BCSO (Sheriff) NM (@BCSDSheriff) June 20, 2018
