BCSO identifies robbery suspect shot by deputy on Halloween

Investigators have identified the suspect who deputies shot on Halloween. 

Deputy Paul Montoya opened fire, hitting 27-year-old Miguel Ruiz at Eighth Street and Central Avenue. 

Investigators say they followed Ruiz from the South Valley, after he and two others robbed a Dollar General store and nearby gas station.

Deputies say Ruiz tried to carjack another driver after crashing a truck in downtown. Deputy Montoya shot him. 

Ruiz is in the hospital but faces federal charges when he gets out.
