BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County firefighters in the South Valley made a furry rescue Thursday, after a kitten got stuck in a dumpster.

It happened behind Station 33 near Coors and Barcelona.

Firefighters say they found the kitten with its head stuck in an opening in the dumpster, unable to free itself.

Hydraulic tools were used to rescue the cat, which is most likely one of the feral cats that lives around the station.

Firefighters say the kitten was OK after the rescue, and quickly wiggled free and ran off.
