It was a slow start to Balloon Fiesta Monday, but when the balloons finally went up it was worth the wait.

It was a cold and breezy morning and the Dawn Patrol went up around 6:45 a.m.

They waited a little longer than usual because the winds were blowing toward Sandia Pueblo.

The balloons finally launched at 7:30 a.m.

Airabelle, the Creamland cow, also lifted off the ground for a bit, which doesn’t happen often.

There are no evening events scheduled for Monday night.
