ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A part of the Gila National Forest is closed because of a fire. Some of the Quemado Ranger District is shut down as crews battle the Baca Fire. It was sparked by lightning earlier this month and it’s burned more than 2,500 acres. Smoke can be seen from Quemado, Pie Town, Horse Springs and Datil. The area that’s affected is about six miles northeast of Quemado Lake in Catron County.
