Attorney: Moriarty murder suspect considering plea deal

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man accused of murdering his girlfriend in the Moriarty motel where he was working is discussing a plea deal according to his attorney.

Mark Chavez is charged with the murder of Tammie Cessna in 2014. His room at the Super 8 where he worked was covered in blood. Her body was found in her van that had been parked in the parking lot for days, and hauled away by Moriarty police.

Chavez was convicted earlier this month for a cold case rape and kidnapping in Albuquerque.

According to the Mountain View Telegraph, his attorney said at a hearing that he is considering a plea deal in the murder case. He could enter that plea at a hearing on Feb. 3.
