Rio Rancho Schools now have armed guards on their campuses. In November the school board approved a measure to provide at least 12 security officers at schools across the district.
Monday, armed guards began appearing at various schools. Rio Rancho High School and V. Sue Cleveland High School will have the most attention.
In February, a 16-year-old boy fired a gun at V. Sue Cleveland High School. No one was injured.
