A wildfire in north-central Arizona continues to grow and has forced the evacuation of several communities in the Clints Well area.

Officials say as of Monday the “Tinder Fire” has grown to around 8,600 acres and is zero percent contained.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday ordered the immediate evacuation for Mosqui Ranchettes, Starlight Pines, Clear Creek Pines, Tamerron Pines, Ponderosa Pine, Timber Ridge, Pine Canyon, Blue Ridge Estates, Ponderosa Pine and Mogollon Ranch communities.

Highway 87 closures are in effect in the fire area.

The fire started on Friday and is about nine miles east of Clints Well near C.C. Cragin Reservoir on the Mogollon Rim.

Officials say some structures have been lost, but have not given details.

The cause of the wildfire still under investigation.
