ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– You’ve likely heard about those “nanny cams” parents set up to keep an eye on a babysitter while parents are away.
Police say a babysitter who’s related to the family was caught in the act abusing a child.
Lydell Quam was in court Saturday.
Quam, a cousin, allegedly attacked the little baby he was watching who’s not even one year old.
It happened late September at a home near Tower and 98th in southwest Albuquerque.
Albuquerque police says a hidden camera shows him slapping her and throwing the baby on the floor.
Police say the child was put in a choke hold by Quam, then he kicked her again.
Quam later texted the father, “I’m sorry” with a sad face.
The baby has been released from UNM Hospital.
Quam is charged with child abuse. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.
