Albuquerque police officers arrested a known repeat offender Friday.
While on patrol in the area of San Mateo and Kathryn, officers spotted a vehicle that was listed as stolen in their database. After conducting a felony traffic stop, 23-year-old William Shimer was arrested without incident.
Shimer is considered an ALeRT offender. The Analysis-Led Recidivism Team is a multi-agency program that tracks offenders who routinely commit crimes in the community. Shimer now has seven felony arrests for possession of burglary tools, receiving/transferring a stolen motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon.
Shimer was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center and awaits his turn before a court judge.
