The Albuquerque Police Department is going green for mental health.

Next month, officers will be able to wear special green department patches in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. The patches symbolize the department’s initiative in bringing together officers and those living with mental illness under the common goals of safety and recovery.

The Crisis Intervention Unit will be leading patch sales at the Family Advocacy Center at 625 Silver SW. The patches cost $10 and proceeds will benefit the National Alliance for Mental Illness.
