An Albuquerque event allowed families to enjoy the great outdoors while helping a good cause.
The 8th Annual Safari Run kicked off Sunday morning at the UNM North Campus Golf Course.
The competitive 8-K featured some of the world’s best distance runners.
It included a fun run for families along with a running clinic for the kiddos.
All proceeds went towards medical and community projects in rural Kenya.
“It’s important because we’re doing something better for our community and an area of Kenya that is extremely poor and really appreciates the work we’re doing to help them,” said Safari Run Coordinator Dr. Lauri Rifka Stern.
Each participant took home a beautiful hand-carved safari animal from Kenya.
