‘Angel Tree’ decorated in memory of children who have died from abuse

Advocates for abused children gathered in downtown Albuquerque to decorate this year’s Angel Tree.

The Angel Tree is set up in Civic Plaza and decorated with ornaments to honor children in New Mexico who have died from abuse.

The organization, The Guardians of the Children, says 51 ornaments are on the tree. Sadly, four new ones were added this year.

“It’s important to celebrate their lives. They have been lost in such a tragic way. We don’t want this to be a memorial, but rather a celebration of their lives where their families and the community can come together.”

The tree will be lit up during a ceremony this Thursday. It is open to the public.
