Alleged drunk driver arrested with kids in the car

An Albuquerque father with a history of drunk driving was arrested again Saturday night. This time, with five kids in the car.

Police say bystanders reported Johnson Nez Jr. nearly hit pedestrians in the Movies 8 parking lot. An officer then spotted Nez driving erratically in the area and pulled him over.

Police say Nez admitted to having a shot before going to pick up his kids from the movies. One of the children in the car was a three-month-old baby.

Nez was arrested for the sixth time. A judge released him Sunday with stipulations. “However, based on your troubling DWI history, I’m requiring pretrial services supervision at a PML level four. Under supervision, you shall submit to drug and alcohol testing,” said Judge David Murphy.

Police say Nez’s father-in-law was the passenger seat while he was driving drunk. Officers determined he was fine to drive the car and the children home.
