Albuquerque zoo’s female snow leopard dies

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Sad news from the Rio Grande Zoo: Kachina, their female snow leopard, has died.

The 14-year-old snow leopard was diagnosed with an inoperable terminal cancer in January.

The BioPark says she was well-cared for and loved all the way until the end.

Kachina had been at the zoo since 2003 and was the companion to 15-year-old Azeo. Together the pair had seven litters.
