An Albuquerque woman is taking the city to federal court to stay living in her home with no utilities.
KRQE News 13 reported on Mary Kay Brizzee in December. She’s been living in a home without running water or power since mid-2018.
The home is structurally sound, but the city claims it’s illegal to live there. Now, the city’s put a lien on Brizee’s home and want her out until the power and water are back on.
Brizzee is suing the city on civil rights grounds, claiming she has the right to stay there. It’s unclear when a federal judge may hear the case.
