Albuquerque woman refusing to give up mayoral race bid

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A retired Old Town resident isn’t giving up her fight to become Albuquerque’s next mayor.

Stella Padilla fell 171 signatures short to get her name on the October ballot.

Candidates had to submit 3,000 signatures from registered voters late last month.

Padilla has filed a lawsuit against the City Clerk, saying she actually had submitted more than 4,000 signatures but the Clerk’s Office wrongly disqualified many of them.
