ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque has won a $100,000 grant to help raise local graduation rates.

America’s Promise Alliance has partnered with AT&T to bring “GradNation Grants” to states and communities across the country. The program aims to raise the national graduation rate to 90 percent by 2020.

United Way of Central New Mexico applied for the grant on behalf of Albuquerque and won the bid over hundreds of applicants.

Rio Grande High School will use the money to support juniors and seniors who have gone off track and to re-engage youth who have dropped out.
