Beginning Monday, the National Weather Service’s Albuquerque weather radar will be shut down temporarily.

The shutdown will last up to three weeks while technicians make hardware upgrades and fix other issues.

In the meantime, forecasters will use satellite and ground station data to monitor late-season storms while the radar is turned off.
