Albuquerque teen wins national award for volunteer work

News

A local teenager won a national award for her volunteer work.

Lily Chacon, 13, was chosen to represent New Mexico in the 2018 Prudential Spirit Awards.

She was nominated for helping park rangers clean up the Bosque.

“Having her group go down and work with the park rangers and really beautify that area really makes New Mexico and especially the Albuquerque community special,” said Patrick Carroll, Prudential Financial.

Lily recently went on to the national awards ceremony in Washington DC. She earned a silver medal there.

Lily plans to continue her volunteer work and hopes to inspire other kids to do the same.
