Mothers will soon have a more comfortable place to nurse at the Sunport.

The city worked with the New Mexico Breastfeeding Taskforce to develop a nursing room at the Sunport, south of the security checkpoint.

The room was furnished by mothers at the Aviation Department.

It’s equipped with furniture for mothers to sit while feeding their children, a changing station and a sink with a mirror.

“This is such an important asset for the city of Albuquerque to ensure moms have a place where moms feel so comforted and supported in nurturing their child,” City Communications Director Alicia Manzano said.

The nursing room is slated to open to the public next week.
